Magnesium Magic

  • Friday, 09 November 2012 21:07
I recently learned a little valuable lesson from my great nutritionist Jeanne Wallace recently – www.nutritional-solutions.net. That brain tumor patients often become depleted of magnesium.

I knew that magnesium helped get rid of the miserable constipation, but I learned something new, that magnesium has multiple benefits. I wish I had known this years ago!

That magnesium helps your brain calm down and relax, like the computer “screen saver mode”. It also helps you not get as negatively effected by “over-stimulation” as much.

I was hesitant to believe that the magnesium would really work and make a difference. But I figured I’d give it a try. And WOW I’ve noticed a difference! Again, wish I had known this years ago.

What type of magnesium you take makes a difference. Just magnesium as a pill / capsule did not help me at all. My mom sold me on “Peter Gillham’s Natural Vitality – Natural Calm.” For years I’ve been taking it for constipation (when needed). I thought the title “Natural Calm” meant it just calmed things down on the toilet. Ha ha I did not know it truly meant it could calm your brain! Again, wish I had known this years ago. That’s why I’m sharing it with you brain tumor friends.

OK – Jeanne Wallace told me to take it twice a day, not just once. (you want your brain calmed down 24 hrs a day right!) She suggested to take 6-12mg of magnesium per KG of your body. OK most of us are in the USA with lbs! So you calculate it this way – for me 150lbs divided by 2.2 = 60 KG. So I personally should take between 360mg – 720mg per day (take half of it in the morning and half at night). Start out on the lower dose and work your way up to find the dose that seems to work best for you. I’ve been taking 350mg in the morning and 350mg in the evening.

WOW it seems to be making a difference for me. If your brain feels like there is an earthquake going on inside, give it a try. It also helps with constipation as well – that is why you start out with a lower dose and work up to see what the right dose is for you personally – otherwise you might be on the toilet not with constipation, but diarrhea! Ya live and ya learn.
